On May 25, 2025, Kokonoebeya held a celebration party to honor the wrestlers following the final day of the tournament.
Several wrestlers achieved excellent results this tournament, including championship titles and Fighting Spirit Awards. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who offered their warm congratulations and support.
A number of bonsai, representing Japan's traditional culture, were also displayed at the venue, adding a beautiful blend of stillness and movement to the space. The thickness of a trunk reflects the years and dedication that have gone into its cultivation, while the graceful growth of its branches symbolizes hope for the future.
A special bonsai display and introduction area was also prepared for guests. Through explanations by bonsai artisans, guests were able to discover the spiritual parallels between bonsai and sumo—the balance of “stillness and movement” and the connection between “dedication and beauty”—and experience the deeper cultural meaning behind these traditions.
A bonsai raffle was also held for guests, offering a chance to win carefully selected miniature bonsai. The raffle was very well received, bringing smiles and excitement to many of the attendees.
The weight of time etched into the trunk, and the graceful reach of the branches toward the future—at first glance, bonsai and sumo may seem worlds apart, yet both are forms of art nurtured through time, dedication, and the human spirit.
